"Great quick bite in the downtown Birmingham area. The carnitas tacos were my favorite. Service was very good as well!"

"University Tacos is a go-to spot for fresh, flavorful Mexican food that hits all the right notes without any pretense. From the moment you bite into your first taco, it’s clear this place knows what it’s doing: the tortillas are soft and warm, the proteins are seasoned and juicy, and every order comes with the bright pop of lime and fresh cilantro that makes street-style tacos so satisfying. The menu is simple but solid — tacos, burritos, bowls, and quesadillas — and each item feels thoughtfully prepared. The carnitas and carne asada tacos are favorites for good reason: tender meat with just the right mix of savory seasoning, paired with crisp onions, fresh cilantro, and house salsas that have a nice kick without overpowering. The portions are generous, especially for the price, and sides like chips with house salsa or guacamole make the meal even better."

"Food was fresh and tasted great! Staff was friendly and delivered the food to our table very quickly. We got the steak burritos and would definitely order them again. Easy walk from hotels in the area. Would highly recommend."

"When I tell you, this is the best nachos I’ve ever had. I have been to every Mexican oriented restaurant in the Birmingham area, and most of them in New Orleans as that is where I’m from. This is the first place I’ve been where the meat had actual flavor! Service was great too. Will definitely be returning!"

"My son and I were going to Prevail Coffee (get the Alabama stinger) and ended up parking near here. So we stopped in and got the Roberts’s burrito (steak and chorizo) and the Miya’s con huevo bowl. Yalllllll e are happy with being forced to park further away. So good."

"I went to college in Texas. Spend lots of time each year in NM. Pretty picky about Mexican food. This place rocks. Simple. Inexpensive. Small things. Great salsa. Fresh limes on street tacos. Soft corn tortillas. Fresh onion. Fish tacos grilled. Ate here 2 days in a row while visiting"
